Joe Root Master Class at Leeds, England favorite to win the third test

After beating England in lords, Indian cricket teams were flying in the sky. Gutsy James Anderson’s opening spell in Leeds made India bundle out by 78 runs. Virat Kohli, the run machine, was once again the victim of Anderson’s wild swing. 

Moreover, the Indian batting orders were all over the place right from the over number one. KL Rahul was the standout batsman for India in the 2nd test. However, in this match, he was undone by Anderson while he chooses to poke a ball outside the off-stump. 

Since then, India did not come back into the game, Kohli Pujara, Rahane lost their way in countering the swing of the English attack. At the same time, Rohit Sharma was holding one end by playing uncharacteristically. But likewise, in other matches of the series, he got perished by pulling the ball. After the departure of Rohit Sharma, it was a matter of time for India to get all out. 

In reply, both English openers started the innings watchfully to hand England the all-important lead 42 runs on the first day of the test. After the dismissal of both openers, Joe Root took charge with the number one T20 batsman David Malan. Both of them toiled hard Indian bowling attack. In the process, England captain completed his hundred to provide England an unassailable lead over 300 runs. David Malan fell to chase a ball outside the leg stroke of lunch. An inswinger from Jasprit Bumrah undid joe Root. Before getting out, Joe Root makes sure to take India out of the game. 

Although India made some comeback in the latter part of the day, England still has two wickets. They may look to add another 50 runs from here before making the deceleration. At the same time, India will need to climb mountains of runs if they give any chance to make a recurrence.
